The Russian Opera Workshop has announced that it will continue its 2021 training program as a Virtual Role Study Workshop.

The program will be divided into two sessions focusing on Tchaikovsky’s “Iolanta” and “Eugene Onegin.” Role studies for “Iolanta” will take place between June 7-18 with “Eugene Onegin” workshops set for July 5-16.

“As we approach the end of the war against the COVID-19 pandemic, and as in any war, the final days can be highly unpredictable. To avoid complacency, and for the safety of our artists and patrons, this summer we opted to continue as a private Virtual Role Study Workshop. Our in-person program with public performances will return in 2022,” stated Ghenady Meirson, the founder and music director of the Russian Opera Workshop, in a press statement.

In addition to role preparation, participating artists will get a chance to engage with daily Russian language classes as well as interact with special guest speakers who include Angela Meade, Bryan Hymel, Markus Beam of the San Francisco Opera Center, and Thor Eckert of the Academy of Vocal Arts.
