Metropolitan Opera Postpones Javier Camarena & Pretty Yende Concert

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a change to its upcoming streaming program.

The company announced that the “Met Stars Live in Concert” performance featuring soprano Pretty Yende and tenor Javier Camarena, scheduled for Nov. 7, has been postponed, as Camarena is ill with a non-Covid illness. As a result, the company will announce a new date and location.

The postponement marks the third time the Metropolitan Opera has had to postpone one of its recitals. The company recently postponed Anna Netrebko’s performance due to the soprano’s COVID-19 recovery and also moved Sondra Radvanovsky and Piotr Beczala’s concert due to the pandemic.

The next Met Opera concert is now scheduled for Nov. 21, which will showcase Sonya Yoncheva from Berlin.

The company also announced that the streaming schedule has also been altered with regards to the originally announced Nov. 6 “Roméo et Juliette,” and Nov. 7 “La Forza del Destino.” The Verdi work will be streamed on Nov. 6 and the Gounod opera will play online on Nov. 7, 2020.
