Czech Republic Announces State of Emergency Due to COVID-19

The government of the Czech Republic has announced that it will reimpose the State of Emergency on the whole territory of the Czech Republic starting Oct. 5, 2020, for a duration of one month.

Indoor events and activities will be limited to 10 people while outdoor activities will be limited to 20 participants. Sports events will be held without an audience.

The authorities have stated that all opera and concert performances will be canceled. Previous reports at the end of August noted that there was a COVID-19 infection cluster spreading at the National Theater in Prague.

Czech Republic has seen a strong rise in the daily new COVID-19 cases in the last three weeks, with the peak hitting 3,126 new daily cases on Sept. 17, 2020. The country currently has 68,919 active COVID-19 cases.
