For the first time in 20 years, the Teatro la Fenice will perform a new production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The new production by Christophe Gayral will follow social distancing and health regulations in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Stefano Ranzani will conduct the production with a cast that includes Claudia Pavone in the role of Violetta Valéry, Matteo Lippi as Alfredo, and Alessandro Luongo as Giorgio Germont.

The production is set to open on Sept. 25 and runs through the 27, 2020.

The new “La Traviata” is the latest socially distanced production at the Teatro la Fenice. The company recently opened its fall season with a semi-staged production of “Roberto Devereux” which OperaWire called, “dramatic” and “visually interesting.” The company is also planning a semi-staged socially distanced production of “Il Trovatore” in October.
