Welsh National Opera Cancels Autumn 2020 Season

By Francisco Salazar

The Welsh National Opera has canceled its Autumn 2020 tour due to the ongoing pandemic.

In a press statement, the company said, “it has become clear in recent weeks that it will be impossible for us to prepare for, rehearse and stage any large-scale production over the summer and it is increasingly unlikely tour partner venues will be open to allow any large-scale productions to take place during the autumn.”

The cancellation will affect productions of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” “Migrations,” and “Jenufa.” The company is making plans to bring the productions into WNO seasons over the next couple of years.

The company announced that venues will be in contact with ticket holders.

The Welsh National Opera is the latest company to cancel its fall season following the Metropolitan Opera, the Dallas Opera, Paris Opera, and Opera Colorado.
