The Opéra de Paris has canceled all performances of Preljocaj’s ballet “Le Parc” and Noureev’s ballet “Raymonda” scheduled for Dec. 30 and 31, according to the company’s official website.

The national strike regarding the reform of the pension system has hit the Opéra de Paris hard, leading to a number of high profile cancellations, including Borodin’s “Prince Igor” with Ildar Abdrazakov, Elena Stikhina, Dmitry Ulyanov and Anita Rachvelishvilli, and Bellini’s “Il Pirata” with a cast that included Sondra Radvanovsky, Michael Spyres, and Ludovic Tézier.

The company announced that it will remain closed from Jan. 1 until Jan. 11 2020 for the premiere of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” The Opera will star Operalia winner Xabier Anduaga as Conte Almaviva, Lisette Oropesa as Rosina, Carlo Lepore as Dr. Bartolo and Florian Sempey and Ilya Kutyukhin alternating the role of Figaro. Carlo Montanaro will conduct the production by Damiano Michieletto.

“Il Barbiere di Siviglia” is set to run until Feb. 12, 2020.
