On Jan. 29, 2019, the Deutsche Oper Am Rhein will present Handel’s “Xerxes.” Those who are unable to attend the performance in Germany will luckily be able to watch it via OperaVision’s live streaming service and for several months thereafter.

The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time. That’s around 1 p.m. EDT and 10 a.m. PST for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until July 28, 2019.

The Handel opera will be performed in a production by Stefan Herheim with Konrad Junghänel leading the musical proceedings. He will conduct a cast that includes Valer Sabadus in the title role, Terry Wey as Arsamene, Katarina Bradic as Amastre, Torben Jürgens as Ariodate, Heidi Elisabeth Meier as Romilda, Hagen Matzeit as Elviro, and Anke Krabbe as Atalanta.

The streaming service is free through OperaVision, which, per its official website, is a project “supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, OperaVision builds on the success of The Opera Platform, with more contributing opera companies from more countries, under the editorial supervision of Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals.
