Jori Klomp has been appointed Chorus Master of The Royal Swedish Opera, following a season as acting Chorus Master in 2025-26.
Born in the Netherlands, Klomp has a background as a singer and saxophonist and previously spent seven years as Chorus Master and Kapellmeister at Theater Aachen. He also worked as a guest Chorus Master at La Monnaie, Opera & Ballet Vlaanderen and Opera Zuid.
In February, the Royal Swedish Opera Chorus is set to perform in Beethoven’s “Fidelio” with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. Klomp is part of the artistic team for the production as Chorus Master.
“What I enjoy most is helping each singer develop their individual strengths and personal expression, and bringing those qualities together to create the best possible choral sound,” Klomp said, per an official press release.
