Knoxville Opera to Honor Veterans with ‘Voices of Valor’

By David Salazar

Knoxville Opera will present “Knoxville Opera’s Voices of Valor,” a free Veterans Day concert featuring the U.S. Army Chorus, on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m.

The concert is presented in partnership with the Cathedral Concert Series at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and brings together the U.S. Army Chorus, Knoxville Opera’s military chorus Military Voices of East Tennessee (MVET), Knoxville Opera soloists, and the Tennessee Wind Symphony.

Audiences will experience opera, American classics, patriotic favorites, and choral music.

“Voices of Valor is an opportunity to honor those who have served and to bring our community together through music,” said Jason Hardy, Knoxville Opera’s General Director and CEO, per an official press release. “Members of MVET share their voices, build connections, and remind us that their stories are an essential part of our community.”

The concert is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Tennessee America 250 grant administered by the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial, and a gift from Wes and Liz Stowers. Tickets are free but required.
