
Gran Teatre del Liceu Cancels ‘Aida’ Performance’ Due to Weather Alert
By Francisco SalazarThe Gran Teatre del Liceu has canceled its Oct. 3 performance of “Aida” due to a weather alert by the CECAT.
The company issued a statement that read, “In light of the alert issued by CECAT and following the authorities’ directives, we wish to inform you that the performance of ‘Aida’ scheduled for today, Saturday, at 6:00 p.m. at the Gran Teatre del Liceu is cancelled, as it is expected to conclude after 8:00 p.m.—the time when the established restrictions come into effect.”
It added,” Likewise, the ‘Jove Aida’ performance scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at 11:00 a.m. is also cancelled. The Liceu will contact all ticket holders for these performances to inform them of the available options. The performance of ‘Aida’ scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at 5:00 p.m. will proceed as planned, as it is not affected by the adopted measures under the issued resolution. We regret any inconvenience this situation may cause and appreciate the audience’s understanding and cooperation.”
The “Aida” performance on Oct. 3 was set to star Fiorenza Cedolins, Olga Maslova, Arsen Soghomonyan, Àngel Òdena, and Simón Orfila. Josep Gil conducts the production by Shirin Neshat.
