Conductor Nil Venditti has been appointed Chief Conductor of Lahti Symphony Orchestra in Finland.

She will begin her three-year tenure, with the option of a two-year renewal, from the 2027-28 season, which will include a minimum of six performing weeks per season.

In a statement Maija Kylkilahti, General Manager of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra said, “Nil Venditti is one of the most interesting and sought-after conductors of our time. Her work combines exceptional energy, profound musicality and the ability to inspire the orchestra. We have high hopes for our future collaboration.”

Venditti added, “I keep thinking about the very first notes we shared together — that mix of curiosity, joy, warmth, trust and stubborn pride that defines the sound of this orchestra. Venditti is a rising star conductor who has appeared as a guest conductor with Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. She serves as Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
