The Oscar-nominated documentary “VIVA VERDI!” is set for two major upcoming showcases.

First off, the film will open UNGA Healing Arts Week at Lincoln Center’s Beale Theater on Sept. 20, 2026 as part of Juilliard’s Fall Festival. Then “VIVA VERDI!” is set to have its international premiere at the Festival Verdi in Parma on Oct. 11.

The film, directed by Yvonne Russo and produced by Christine La Monte, follows residents of Casa Verdi in Milan, the retirement home founded by Giuseppe Verdi for aging opera singers and musicians, along with the international music students who live alongside them. The Lincoln Center screening is timed to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly and follows the Metropolitan Opera’s season opening production of Verdi’s “Macbeth” on Sept. 22.

Following the screening on Sept. 20, a panel discussion will bring together leaders in arts and health, including Juilliard Extension Dean John-Morgan Bush, La Monte, Creative Aging International co-founder Dominic Campbell, Lincoln Center Director of Accessibility Miranda Hoffner, and others addressing the role of creativity in aging.

“An Academy Award nomination is an extraordinary milestone for any filmmaker, but perhaps the greatest reward has been watching our film continue to grow beyond the screen,” said Russo and La Monte, per an official press release.
