By Francisco Salazar

The Krakow Opera has announced a cast change for its June 25 performance of Verdi’s “Aida.”

The company said, “that due to the ill health of Aleksandra Kurzak, who was announced to perform Aida, will be able to perform the role.”

As a result, Natalia Rubis will sing the title role.

The Polish soprano has performed at the Wrocław Opera, Polish National Opera, Krakow Opera, Warsaw Chamber Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Beethoven Easter Festival and the Chopin and His Europe Festival.

Rubis is set to join a cast that includes Monika Ledzion, Giorgi Sturua, Stepan Drobit, and Rafał Siwek. Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski conducts the production by Giorgio Madia.
