LA Opera has announced that its previously scheduled June 20 recital with Renée Fleming at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion has been reimagined as a cross-genre collaboration with banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck.

The showcase case, now titled “Renée Fleming with Béla Fleck: The Fiddle and the Drum,” is now set for Sept. 22, 2026 at Walt Disney Concert Hall, in co-presentation with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The evening draws on the pair’s forthcoming album of the same name, due May 29 on Thirty Tigers. Fleming and Fleck first discussed the collaboration long ago but did not find the opportunity to bring it to life until 2023, when they convened in Nashville to record the album.

Fleming and Fleck will be joined onstage by Fleck’s Grammy-winning ensemble My Bluegrass Heart, as well as vocalist Aoife O’Donovan. The two artists made their debut together at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on May 16, with upcoming appearances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, and the Chautauqua Institution. The tour will culminate at Carnegie Hall on Dec. 3.

Patrons holding tickets for the original June 20 recital will be contacted regarding reseating or refund options.
