Concorso Lirico Internazionale Giuseppe Di Stefano Announces its 21st Edition

The Concorso Lirico Internazionale Giuseppe Di Stefano will return to Trapani for its 21st edition.

The competition will be held between May 13 and 16, 2026 at the Sala Grande del Complesso Monumentale San Domenico.

The competition will be open to all nationalities and singers who were born after Jan. 1, 1989. Founded in 1994 by Francesco Braschi, the competition has always pursued a mission: not simply to reward talent, but to give them a real role on stage.

This year the competition winners will get a chance to perform in “I Capuleti e I Montecchi” in the roles of Giulietta, Romeo, Tebaldo, Capellio and Lorenzo in a production by Massimo Pizzi Gasparon.

In a statement, Walter Roccaro, artistic director of the Ente Luglio said, “The Di Stefano Competition is an opportunity for international visibility and, above all, a professional launching pad for the competitors. This year we will select the voices that will be the protagonists of Bellini’s ‘I Capuleti e i Montecchi,’ a masterpiece that demands performers with rare musical and theatrical sensitivity. The presidency of Anna Caterina Antonacci—an authoritative and multifaceted singer of international fame—and the quality of the entire jury are the clearest sign of the level we want to ensure. To young singers from all over the world, we say: apply! Trapani awaits them, and the “Verbi d’Amore” season could be their first big opportunity.”
