Sarasota Opera & The Bay Announce ‘Opera at the Bay’ Series

Sarasota Opera and The Bay have announced “Opera at The Bay,” a free outdoor screening series presenting three productions from the company’s 2026 Winter Festival at The Bay Park in downtown Sarasota.

Screenings will take place on consecutive Saturday evenings in April and May, with large-screen presentations and English surtitles.

The series opens on April 18 with Puccini’s “La bohème,” preceded by a live performance by the Sarasota Youth Opera, whose members participated in the mainstage production as chorus members during the Winter Festival. Then comes Lehár’s “The Merry Widow” follows on April 25 and Verdi’s Il trovatore on May 2.

“We’re excited to build on the success of our partnership with The Bay again this year, bringing world-class opera to Sarasota in an unforgettable setting,” said Richard Russell, Sarasota Opera’s General Director, per an official press release.“Sharing opera in such a beautiful, open-air space allows us to welcome new audiences while delighting longtime supporters. We invite the community to come experience opera at The Bay.”

All screenings are free and open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets
