The Salzburg Easter Festival has announced the 2026 Herbert von Karajan Prize.
This year the prize, which is endowed with a total of EUR 50,000 and donated by the Karajan family, was awarded to three singers; Jasmin White, Le Bu and Konstantin Krimmel.
White recently performed as Erda in the festival’s “Das Rheingold” and is a winner of the Queen Sonja Singing Competition in Norway and second place and the audience-awarded Musiq3 Prize in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium.
Krimmel been a member of the ensemble at the Bayerische Staatsoper since 2021 and made his Salzburg Easter Festival this season in the choral Concert I.
Meanwhile, Le Bu is a 2024 Operalia First Prize and 2022 Metropolitan Opera Competition Winner and a recent alumnus of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. He has performed on the stages of the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Santa Fe Opera and the Aspen Opera Theatre. At the 2026 Salzburg Easter Festival he performed in the Choral Concert II as well as Fasolt in “Das Rheingold” with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
