Cast Change: Giorgio Berrugi to Sing ‘Lusia Miller’ Stream in Vienna

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Luisa Miller.”

The company said that Giorgio Berrugi will sing the Feb. 26 performance of Verdi’s early work, replacing Freddie de Tommaso.

Berrugi has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House in London, Lincoln Center in New York, Bolshoi Theatre, Opéra de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera di Roma, San Francisco Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, and Opéra de Monte-Carlo, among others.

He is set to join a cast that includes Nadine Sierra, George Petean, Roberto Tagliavini, Daria Sushkova, and Marko Mimica. Michele Mariotti conducts the production by Philipp Grigorian.
