Arturo Chacón Cruz, Alfredo Daza & Ramón Vargas Lead Ópera de Bellas Artes’ 2026 Season

Mexico City’s Ópera de Bellas Artes ⁦has announced its 2026 season.

Opera

The season open with Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s “Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny,” in a production by Marcelo Lombardero. Srba Dinić conducts the opera.

Performance Dates: March 2026


Manuel de Fallas’ “La vida breve” and “El amor brujo” will be performed in a double bill in a production by Nuria Castejón, and conducted by Abdiel Vázquez.

Performance Dates: April 2026


Ramón Vargas sings the title role of Massenet’s Werther with Rodrigo Sámano conducting. Juliana Vanscoit directs.

Performance Dates: May 2026


Puccini’s Tosca will star Arturo Chacón Cruz, Alfredo Daza and María Fernanda Castillo. Stefan Lano conducts a production by Luis Miguel Lombana.

Performance Dates: October 2026


The season ends with Mascagni’s “Cavalleria rusticana” and Luis Sandi’s “La señora en sul balcón.” Nicola Beller Carbone directs.

Performance Dates: December 2026


Concerts 

The concert season opens with music by Benjamin Britten and Beethoven. Ludwig Carrasco conducts while Luis Manuel Sánchez leads the chorus.

Arturo Chacón Cruz performs a gala featuring popular Mexican songs. Abdiel Vázquez conducts.

Orff’s “Carmina Burana” will be performed.

 The Concurso Nacional de Canto Carlo Morelli will be held in June.

Performance Dates: June 2026


Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 quill be led by Ludwig Carrasco.

Ravel’s “Daphnis et Chloé” will be conducted by Alejo Pérez.
