
Cast Change: Jennifer Holloway Replaces Elena Stikhina in Lyric Opera of Chicago’s ‘Salome’
By Francisco SalazarLyric Opera of Chicago has announced a cast change for its production of “Salome.”
The company said that soprano Jennifer Holloway will portray the title role, replacing Elena Stikhina, who is withdrawing from the production due to her pregnancy.
Holloway will make her Lyric debut in the title role that she has also performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, and Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam.
This season, the soprano opened a new production of “Lohengrin” at the Rome Opera and is set to sing the title role in Barber’s “Vanessa” with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
She is set to join a cast that includes Brandon Jovanovich and Tanja Ariane Baumgartner as Herod and Herodias, as well as Nicholas Brownlee as Jochanaan.
Conductor Tomáš Netopil leads Sir David McVicar’s production.
“Salome” opens on Jan. 25 and runs through Feb. 14, 2026.
