
Obituary: Tenor Francesco Piccoli Passes Away

Born in 1959 in San Martino Buon Albergo in a province of Verona, Piccoli went on to make his debut at the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo in Donizetti’s “Rita” in 1986.
Following that debut he went on to have sing for more than 30 years and performed a wide repertoire from baroque music to romantic works. He also performed concert works by Mozart and Mascagni.
Among his roles included Rodolfo in “La Bohème,” Nemorino in “L’Elisir d’Amore,” Almaviva in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” Tamino in “Die Zauberflote,” and Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi,” among others.
Piccoli performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Paris Opera, Royal Festival Hall, and Glyndebourne.
Outside of his work on stage, Piccoli worked with young artists at Italian conservatives.
