By Francisco Salazar

Anna Netrebko is set to make her role debut as Judith in Béla Bartók’s “Bluebeard’s Castle” on Nov. 30, 2026.

The soprano will sing the role alongside bass Alexander Köpeczi, and the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Henrik Nánási in a concert performance at the Basel Stadtcasino – Musiksaal.

The performance, which will also mark the soprano’s Basel debut, will also see well-known works by Franz Liszt, including one of his piano concertos, performed by Misi Boros.

This is the latest role the soprano adds to her repertoire after Amelia in “Un Ballo in Maschera” earlier this season and Verdi’s Requiem, which she is set to debut in 2026. This season, the soprano is set to return to the Paris Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real de Madrid, and Wiener Staatsoper, among others.
