Xabier Anduaga is set to sing two major roles at the Metropolitan Opera during the 2028-29 season, which is the next time he will grace the Met stage.

Due to the tenor’s high demand, audiences in new York will not be able to see him for another three years. The Met’s General Manager, Peter Gelb, told the AP News, “We have been actually having trouble booking him because he’s so much in demand.”

For that season, the Spanish tenor will sing the Duke in “Rigoletto” and Romeo in “Romeo et Juliette.”

Gelb praised the tenor, stating, “Everybody’s always looking for the next Pavarotti…I’m not saying he’s the next Pavarotti — but he could be.”

This season, Anduaga is set to perform at the Bayerische Staatsoper, ABAO Bilbao Opera, Teatro Real de Madrid, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu. Barcelona, Opéra National de Paris, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, among others.
