Berkshire Opera Festival Launches Inaugural Resident Artist Program
By David SalazarBerkshire Opera Festival has announced the launch of its Resident Artist Program for the summer of 2026.
The eight-week paid residency will feature four singers: a soprano, a mezzo-soprano, a tenor, and a baritone, who will become part of an intensive training and performance regimen.
“This is an extremely exciting moment for Berkshire Opera Festival’s growth,” said William E. Briggs Artistic Director and Co-founder Brian Garman per an official press release. “It’s been my goal for several years to create a Resident Artist Program for BOF, so I’m delighted we’ll be able to launch this next summer. These programs are absolutely vital for preparing the next generation of opera stars, and having our own will allow BOF to present even more of the high-level artistry that our audiences have come to expect.”
The program will be led by Lynn Baker. It will culminate in the Resident Artists performing principal roles in staged productions of “Beauty and the Beast” by Grétry in July 2026. Mo Zhou will direct this production. The artists will also take part in the company’s production of “Lucia di Lammermoor.”
