Cast Change: Tenor Valentyn Dytiuk to Make Royal Opera House Debut in ‘Les Vêpres Siciliennes’

The Royal Opera has announced a major cast change for “Les Vêpres Siciliennes.”

The company revealed that Valentyn Dytiuk will take on the role of Henri, taking over for SeokJong Baek who has withdrawn due to personal reasons.

Dytiuk will make his company debut with the opera. He has performed with such companies as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, National Theatre Prague, Estonian National Opera, Berlin Philharmoniker, National Symphony Orchestra, and Teatro Verdi.

This is the second major cast change for the production, which opens on Sept. 19 and runs through Oct. 6, 2025. A few weeks ago, Marina Rebeka withdrew from the cast due to illness. She was replaced by Joyce El-Khoury and Sara Cortolezzi.

Also starring in the cast are Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, Quinn Kelsey, and Vartan Gabrielan. Speranza Scappucci conducts.
