360 Of Opera And Shoperatic Perform At Port Authority

By Francisco Salazar

How do you do you engage new audiences?

The answer is one 360 of Opera and Shoperatic seem to know very well. You bring it immediately to them. And that is exactly what they did at the Port Authority Bus Terminal00 on May 31, 2017.

Joining Sing for Hope and pianist Mary Pinto, sopranos Maria Natale, Suzanne Vinnik- Richards, Jasmina Halimic, Eugenia Forteza, and Kaleigh Rae Gamaché dressed up in lavish gowns and performed arias from Puccini, Verdi, Bernstein, and Mozart.

The result was a huge crowd shouting “beautiful” and incredible. Audiences applauded as they walked by or just stood there watching the Sopranos dispatch coloratura runs and high Fs through the station.

Thanks to Tosca New York, the Sopranos got to wear beautiful gowns that had been worn by famous sopranos including Renée Fleming and also brought the attention of audiences. Suzanne Vinnik- Richards noted that it was a bit campy but it did the job and that was exactly what they wanted.

The concert lasted one hour and for those who were having a bad day, it was definitely a great way to delight and brighten it up.
