2019 Lotte Lenya Competition Announces Three Winners

The Kurt Weill Foundation for Music announced the winners for the 2019 Lotte Lenya Competition.

The competition, which was held at Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music on April 13, handed its first prize of $20,000 to Daniel Berryman. Meanwhile Andrea Wozniak won the $15,000 Second Prize. Trevor Martin received the Third Prize of $10,000.

In addition to the top prizes, the judges bestowed discretionary awards in the amount of $3,500 to Jeremy Weiss, Katherine Riddle, Nyla Watson, and Jonah Hoskins. The remaining six finalists each received $2,000. The finalists included Carolyn Bacon, Danielle Beckvermit, Timothy Bruno, Jonathan Heller, Florian Peters, and Amy Weintraub.

Adam Benzwi, Ute Gfrerer, and Mark Lamos judged the competition.

This year, the Lotte Lenya competition drew 215 applicants from 21 countries and 29 U.S. States and Puerto Rico.
