Yusif Eyvazov will sing the role of Cavaradossi in the Metropolitan Opera’s upcoming revival of Puccini’s “Tosca.”

The Metropolitan Opera announced, via Twitter, that Eyavzov would replace Marcelo Alvarez for performances starting on April 21 through May 4.

Eyvazov will now be joining his wife Anna Netrebko with whom he performed earlier this season during the opening night of “Andrea Chenier” at the Teatro alla Scala. It will also mark the tenor’s first big assignment at the Met, since his debut in 2015 as Calaf in “Turandot.”

Eyvazov is coming off performances of “Macbeth” at the Royal Opera House with Netrebko and concert performances with Maria Guleghina.

“Tosca” is also set to star Michael Volle and Zeljko Lucic sharing the role of Scarpia and will be conducted by Bertrand de Billy.
