Vienna State Opera 2017-18 Live Stream: Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak Star in ‘Otello’

Verdi’s “Otello” takes over the Vienna State Opera’s streaming service on March 18, 2018.

The final tragic masterwork of its creator will feature Roberto Alagna in the title role with his real-life wife Aleksandra Kurzak playing the ill-fated Desdemona. Dalibor Jenis portrays Jago and Alexandru Moisiuc as Lodovico. Dan Ettinger conducts.

The stream kicks off at 6:30 p.m. local time and is slated to run until around 9:30 p.m. That’s around 1:30 p.m. EDT and 10:30 a.m. PST for the start time.

While tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) for most live streams, this one is special as it will be completely free of charge. All viewers must do is register with the website to enjoy this performance.

Next up on the slate of live streams will be the four installments of “Der Rings des Nibelungen,” “Turandot,” “Andrea Chénier,” “Simon Boccanegra,” “Capriccio,” “La Traviata,” “Rigoletto,” “Der Freischütz,” “Lohengrin,” and “Falstaff.”

  1. You were wrong – I signed up to watch Otello and they charged me for the opera. But it was excellent!
