The Royal Opera House Announces Cast Amendments & Additions For Its 2019-20 Season

The Royal Opera House has announced a few cast amendments and additions for its upcoming 2019-20 season.

Lars Woldt has withdrawn from “Don Giovanni” due to poor health. The Commendatore will instead by sung by British bass Brindley Sherratt on Sept. 13, 16, 19, & 28 and Oct. 3, and Greek bass Petros Magoulas on Sept. 22 & 25 and Oct. 8 & 10.

Performance Dates: Sept. 13 – Oct. 10, 2019

British bass and ROH Chorus member Bryan Secombe will sing the Notary in “Don Pasquale.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 14 – Nov. 2, 2019

South African baritone Dawid Kimberg will sing the Herald in “Otello.”

Performance Dates: Dec. 9 – 22, 2019

Lithuanian mezzo-soprano and ROH Chorus member Renata Skarelyte will sing Annina in “La Traviata” on Jan. 25, 27, 30, & Feb. 1.

Performance Dates: Dec. 17, 2019 – Mar. 23, 2020

Russian soprano Ekaterina Siurina will replace Romanian-born British soprano Simona Mihai as Mimi in “La Bohème” on Jan. 31 and Feb. 3 & 5. Mihai will instead sing Musetta on those dates, with Russian soprano Aida Garifullina singing Musetta on Jan. 10, 14, 17, 20, 23, & 29. Additionally, British tenor and ROH Chorus member Andrew Macnair will sing Parpignol.

Performance Dates: Jan 10 – Feb. 13, 2020

British conductor Finnegan Downie Dear will lead the orchestra during performances of “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground” on Feb. 8 & 9.

Performance Dates: Feb. 3 – 12, 2020

The role of Lola in “Cavalleria Rusticana” will be shared by Italian mezzo-sopranos Josè Maria Lo Monaco, performing Apr. 11 – 25, and Martina Belli, performing Apr. 29 & May 2.

Performance Dates: Apr. 11 – May 2, 2020
