Teatro Mayor To Present Colombian Premiere Of ‘Der Rosenkavalier’

The Teatro Mayor and the Opera de Colombia are set to present the Colombian premiere of Strauss’”Der Rosenkavalier.”

Known for its challenging production values, the work has only been presented in two countries in Latin America – Brazil, and Argentina. Now under the musical direction of Josep Caballé-Domenech and the direction of Alejandro Chacón, the work will arrive in Bogotá with the collaboration of 106 musicians, 40 singers, and 23 actors.

The leading cast will include German soprano Michaela Kaune, American mezzo-soprano Angela Brower, German bass-baritone Dirk Aleschu and American bass-baritone Robert Bork. The production will also include Colombian singers including Valeriano Lanchas and César Gutiérrez.

Caballé-Domenech will conduct the Bogotá Philharmonic and the Chorus and youth orchestra.

Performances are set for Sept. 1, 5 and 8, 2018.
