Fans will get a chance to meet with Placido Domingo at the Metropolitan Opera Store on Jan 4, 2017 at 3 p.m.

The legendary singer will be on hand to sign CD’s and DVD’s from his massive recording library. The tenor-turned-baritone releases new recordings every year. His most recent arrivals include a DVD of Verdi’s “I Due Foscari” at the Royal Opera House and a three-opera set of live opera recordings performed on locations of their respective works. Domingo stars in two of the operas on that set, including a “Rigoletto” performance throughout Mantua from 2010 and a Tosca filmed throughout Rome in the early 1990’s.

Domingo has met with fans numerous times a the Metropolitan Opera shop, his most recent appearance coming in 2013.

Domingo is currently in the midst of a successful run as the title role in Verdi’s third opera and first masterpiece “Nabucco.” “Domingo’s singing maintained this consistent level of potency throughout much of the first half of the work, the King’s power at its highest and most threatening,” wrote OperaWire regarding his performance in the role. “He rarely backed off and any seeming threat to match or top him vocally was met with a stream of glorious sound. At 75, his voice, while possessing an edge and wider vibrato, is still as imposing as ever.”

The Met Opera shop recently hosted Anna Netrebko in December to sign copies of her “Verismo” and “Manon Lescaut” recordings.

On February 6, 2017, Pretty Yende will greet her fans to sign copies of her debut CD “A Journey.”
