Plácido Domingo is set to return to the San Francisco Opera to celebrate his 50th anniversary with the company.

The legendary tenor will be joined on stage by guest artists who will be announced at a later date and accompanied by the San Francisco Opera Orchestra under the baton of Spanish conductor Jordi Bernàcer.

Domingo made his debut with the San Francisco Opera in 1969 as Rodolfo in Puccini’s “La Bohème” and went on to perform with the company in nearly 100 performances. Among some of his most recognized opera performances with the company included Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier,” Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann,” Puccini’s “Tosca,” “La Fanciulla del West” and Bizet’s “Carmen.” His performances of “L’Africaine” and “Samson et Dalila” were broadcast on PBS and subsequently released.

The 50th anniversary concert is set for Oct. 6, 2019.
