Placido Domingo & Anna Netrebko Return To Baden-Baden

By Francisco Salazar

The Baden Baden Festival has announced its July schedule with Anna Netrebko and Plácido amongst the headliners.

The festival announced that Domingo will appear in a concert performance of Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” with the Mariinsky Orchestra and Tatjana Serjan as Amelia and Ferruccio Furlanetto as Fiesco.

Meanwhile, Anna Netrebko will return to the festival in a recital with Malcolm Martineau. The program will include music by Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Tchaikovsky. The recital will be similar to the one she has scheduled for Carnegie Hall and the Lyric Opera of Chicago and which she first performed to rave reviews at the Salzburg Festival.

The July schedule will also see Valery Gergiev conduct a number of concerts with works by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Prokofiev.

It will also mark the final program that Baden-Baden director Andreas Mölich-Zebhauser programs.
