The English National Opera has announced its 2018-19 season with five new Productions including a World Premiere, four revivals, and two collaborations.

The season will include contemporary pieces and bold new takes on seminal works to audience-favorite classic stagings.

The season kicks off with a new production of Strauss’ “Salome” by Adena Jacobs. Conductor Martyn Brabbins leads the production with Allison Cook in the title role, David Soar, Michael Colvin, and Susan Bickley.

Performance Dates: Sep. 28-Oct. 20, 2018

Gershwins’ “Porgy and Bess” gets a new production by James Robinson, which is a co-production with the Metropolitan Opera and Dutch National Opera. John Wilson conducts the cast that also includes Eric Greene, Nicole Cabell, Nmon Ford, Latonia Moore, Gweneth-Ann Rand, Nadine Benjamin, Tichina Vaughn, and Donovan Singletary.

Performance Dates: Oct. 11-Nov. 3, 2018

The first revival of the season will be Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” with Stuart Stratford and James Hendry sharing conducting duties. Sarah Tynan, Lester Lynch, Eleazar Rodríguez, and Clive Bayley star in the Bel Canto masterpiece.

Emma Bell, David Butt Philip, and Roderick Williams star in a new production of Britten’s “War Requiem” by Daniel Kramer. Martyn Brabbins conducts the production.

Performance Dates: Nov. 16-Dec. 7, 2018

Natalya Romaniw, Jonathan Tetelman, Nicholas Lester, and Nadine Benjamin star in Puccini’s “La Bohème” in a revival of Jonathan Miller’s production. Alexander Joel and Valentina Peleggi conduct.

Performance Dates: Nov. 26-Feb. 16, 2019

Philip Glass’ “Akhnaten” returns with Karen Kamensek and Anthony Roth Costanzo in the title role. Katie Stevenson, Rebecca Bottone, James Cleverton,  Keel Watson, Colin Judson, and Zachary James round out the cast.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11-Mar. 7, 2019

Lehár’s “The Merry Widow” gets a new production by Max Webster starring Sarah Tynan, Nathan Gunn, Andrew Shore, Robert Murray, and Rhian Lois. Kristiina Poska and Martin Fitzpatrick alternate in the pit.

Performance Dates: March 1-April 13, 2019 

Rupert Charlesworth, Lucy Crowe, Thomas Oliemans, Brindley Sherratt, Jonathan Lemalu, and Julia Bauer lead Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” in a revival conducted by Ben Gernon and Chris Hopkins.

Performance Dates: March 14-April 11, 2019

Iain Bell’s “Jack The Ripper” makes its world premiere in a new production by Daniel Kramer. Martyn Brabbins conducts a cast that includes Claudia Boyle, legendary soprano Josephine Barstow, Janis Kelly, Marie McLaughlin, Susan Bullock, Lesley Garrett, William Morgan, Alex Otterburn, Alan Opie, Robert Hayward, Nicky Spence, and James Cleverton.

Performance Dates: March-April 12, 2019

Purcell’s “Dido” gets a new production by Purni Morell and conducted by Valentina Peleggi.

Performance Dates: May 18-June 1, 2019

A new production of Britten’s rarely performed work “Noye’s Fludde” will be directed by Lyndsey Turner.

Performance Dates: July 3-12, 2019
