Jennifer Rowley To Replace Maria Agresta In ‘Il Trovatore’

Maria Agresta has canceled her performances of “Il Trovatore.”

The Met announced that due to illness the soprano was unable to perform. As a result Jennifer Rowley will sing the role of Leonora.

Rowley is due one performance of “Tosca” on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, and was covering “Il Trovatore.” Last season the soprano had a break out at the Met when she performed the role of Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac” alongside Roberto Alagna. OperaWire said, “the night belonged to Jennifer Rowley as Roxane.”

Rowley continues at the Met this season covering “Luisa Miller” and then “Tosca.” She makes her debut at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in the role of Leonora in “Il Trovatore.”

”Il Trovatore” is set to star Yonghoon Lee, Anita Rachvelishvili, Quinn Kelsey and Luca Salsi. Marco Armiliato conducts the run which is set to open on Jan. 22
