Jakub Józef Orliński Announces First Solo Album

By Francisco Salazar

Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński has announced the release of his first solo album.

The new album, entitled “Anima Sacra,” will be released on Warner Classics and will feature music by Fago, Heinichen, Terradellas, Sarro, Feo, Zelenka, Hasse, Schiassi, and Durante. According to Warner Classics, it will also feature world premiere recordings of eight Baroque arias, notably by composers of the Neapolitan school and will showcase Maxim Emelyanychev conducting Il Pomo D’oro.

Per a  press release, Orliński noted, “Baroque style is about freedom and passion. There are lots of rules of style to follow, but there are also so many choices to make, starting with ornamentation that you can do in so many different ways. With those ornaments, you can show your creativity, but also get even deeper into the piece and show your artistic persona. It can all be filtered by your own life experiences, which will inspire your choices.”

The album is set for release Oct. 26, 2018.
