Ismael Jordi To Make Metropolitan Opera Debut

Ismael Jordi is set to make his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2021.

According to the Diario de Jérez, the Spanish tenor will make his debut at the Met in January of 2021 in the role of Romeo in Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. According to the online publication, the offer came after Jordi received rave reviews at the Opera de Montreal in the Gounod opera.

Jordi has performed in major theaters including the Teatro Real, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera House, Opernhaus Zurich, and the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The tenor is currently at the Teatro de la Zarzuela preparing a production of “Doña Francisquita,” which he will later take to the Opera de Lausanne later this season. The tenor is also slated to sing the role of Edgardo in “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Bilbao Opera.
