Florian Boesch has withdrawn from the upcoming world premiere of Michael Jarrell’s “Berenice.”

According to the Opéra de Paris, the bass-baritone has withdrawn from all future productions with the theater. As a result, Ivan Ludlow will replace Boesch in the role of Antiochus.

Ludlow is well-known for his work in modern opera and he recently performed “Lulu’ at the Hamburg State Opera, “Lunea” at the Opernhaus Zurich and “Vixen” at the Silent Opera and the Helsinki Festival. This season he will be at the Opéra de Lyon and La Monnaie.

Boesch is set to return to the stage for “Himmelerde” at the Berlin State Opera and will also be at the Theater an der Wien for “Orlando.”

The world premiere of “Berenice” will be on Sept. 26 and is set to star Barbara Hannigan in the title role, Bo Skovhus, and Alastair Miles.
