Elīna Garanča Reveals New Projects & New Repertoire

Elīna Garanča has revealed two new roles she is planning to sing in the next few seasons.

In an interview with Platea Magazine, the mezzo noted that she is excited to add the roles of Kundry in “Parsifal” and Amneris in “Aida.” In the interview, she stated that she is learning Amneris and that she has planned to premiere it at the Gran Canaria and will also sing the role in Paris and Vienna. She noted that Amneris is one of the reasons that she wanted to sing opera and that the dream will finally come true in the next few seasons.

She also noted that with Kundry she has been very careful, especially when it comes to the conductor she wants to work with.

In the interview, Garanča noted that she is preparing a tour through South America and will be preparing a new album with Italian, Spanish and French roots as well as a lieder album with music by Schumann, Brahms y Rachmaninov.

The mezzo also noted that she is fond of Zarzuela and would love to sing a full Zarzuela one day.
