By Francisco Salazar

Decca announced Aida Garifullina’s new album scheduled for release next year.

The record company announced the new CD via social media and stated that the first single was available today via Youtube. Decca  compiled together clips from Garifullina’s performances of Gounod’s “Je Veux Vivre” from “Romeo et Juliette. The video includes clips from two operaball performances and one from this year’s Bastille day concert.

Last year Decca announced that Garifullina had signed an exclusive contract with company and stated that the first recording would include music from Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. A single was even released on Spotify and is also available on amazon.

Garifullina is one of the biggest rising stars in the industry as she won Operalia in 2013 and since then has become a mainstay at the Vienna State Opera. She has also appeared in the Golden Globe nominated film “Florence Foster Jenkins” where she portrayed legendary diva Lily Pons and sang the Bell Song from Delibes’ “Lakme.”

This season she is scheduled to perform leading roles in Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” and in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at the Vienna State Opera. She will also perform at the Paris National Opera in Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Snow Maiden.” The soprano is also slated to perform in numerous concerts including one with Juan Diego Florez and one celebrating Placido Domingo.

The album entitled “Aida Garifullina” will be released on Feb. 3 and will include music by Gonoud, Delibes, and from the three aforementioned Russian composers. It ill also include music from anonymous composers.  Cornelius Meister conducted the CD with RSO-Wien symphonieorchester.
