The Dallas Opera has announced its 2018-19 season, which is set to include five classic operas and numerous international stars.

The season kicks off on Oct. 12, 2018 with Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” starring Greer Grimsley in the title role, Anja Kampe in her Dallas debut, and Jay Hunter Morris. Music director Emmanuel Villaume conducts.

Performance Date: Oct. 12-20 (4 performances)

Bizet’s “Carmen” then takes center stage with Stéphanie d’Oustrac in the title role in her Dallas debut. Stephen Costello is Don José while Alexander Vinogradov is the Toreador and Vanessa Vasquez makes her Dallas debut as Michaëla. Villaume leads the production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 19- Nov. 4 (6 performances)

Kristin Lewis, Musa Ngqungwana, and Gregory Kunde, in a rare appearance in the U.S., will headline Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut.” Music director Villaume conducts this early masterpiece.

Performance Dates: March 1-9 (4 performances)

Rising star Pumeza Matshikiza and Jean-Francois Borras lead Puccini’s “La Bohème” as Mimì and Rodolfo. Both artists will be making debuts alongside Anthony Clark Evans and Nicholas Brownlee also debutantes. Veteran Sam Ramey, Sara Gartland, and Will Liverman round out the cast. The opera will be conducted by Giuliano Carella in Tomer Zvulun’s new production.

Performance Dates: March 15-31 (6 performances)

The season concludes with Verdi’s final masterpiece “Falstaff.” The production marks the first time the opera will be shown on at the Dallas Opera. The star-studded includes the debuts of Mark Delavan in the title role, Quinn Kelsey as Ford, Angela Meade as Alice Ford, Mojca Erdmann as Nanetta, Megan Marino as Meg Page, and Stephanie Blythe as Miss Quickly. Airam Hernandez, Robert Brubaker, Alex Mansoori, and Andrea Silvestrelli round out the cast. Shawna Lucey makes her house debut directing with Riccardo Frizza in the pit.
