CD/DVD Releases – Week of July 31: Plácido Domingo Leads New Releases With ‘Macbeth’

Plácido Domingo continues his legendary recording legacy while a soprano-guitar duo comes to fruition.

Domingo’s Macbeth

Last season the legendary tenor-turned-baritone riveted Los Angeles audiences with his complex turn as Macbeth in Darko Tresjniak’s production. Now audiences can experience the event on DVD  and Blu-Ray thanks to Sony Classical. Domingo was joined by Ekaterina Semenchuk who brought her voluptuous sound to the role of Lady Macbeth. Also on the recording are Joshua Guerrero as Macduff and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Banquo. James Conlon is at the helm of the LA opera orchestra. OperaWire will have a review later this week.

Voice and Guitar

Joanna Klisowska is joined by guitarist Guilio Tampalini for a new album entitled “Castelnuovo-Tedesco: The Divan of Moses Ibn Ezra, Complete Music for Voice and Guitar.” Brilliant Classics will release the album which marks her eighth and her first for the brand.
