Barcelona To Name Street After Montserrat Caballé

Joan Subirats, the commissioner of culture del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, announced that the city has begun paperwork to name a street after the late soprano. The commissioner also announced that soprano will receive the Golden Medal of the city.
Caballé passed away on Oct. 6 after being hospitalized.
The legendary soprano was recognized for her diverse repertoire and her potent legato line. She was well-known for her Bel Canto repertoire as well as her Verdi interpretations and would go on to perform at every major theater including the Liceu in Barcelona, the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Teatro Real de Madrid and the Royal Opera.
The soprano was also well known for her collaborations with Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, and even with Freddy Mercury.
