The 10 finalists for the Glyndebourne Opera Cup have been announced.

The finalists include soprano Francesca Chiejina, mezzo Samantha Hankey, soprano Elbenita Kajtazi, mezzo Eléonore Pancrazi, soprano Emily Pogorelc, bass-baritone Cody Quattlebaum, soprano Jacquelyn Stucker, soprano Gemma Summerfield, tenor Charles Sy, and baritone Hubert Zapiór.

“We were treated to some really amazing music-making from our semi-finalists who conquered their nerves and rose to the occasion with grace and verve,” said Sebastian F. Schwarz, chair of the Glyndebourne Opera Cup jury. “It was a tough job for the jury to choose just ten finalists but we’re delighted with the line-up and I’m really looking forward to seeing the ten singers perform again on Saturday.’

For those keeping track, that number totals seven women and three men. Of the seven women, five are sopranos and two are mezzos. Five of the finalists are American, including Chiejina, Hankey, Pogorelc, Quattlebaum, and Stucker.

Of the group, Stucker is oldest at age 28 and Pogorelc is the youngest at 21. The average age of the group is 25.6.

This group is slated to perform in the final on Saturday, March 24 between 5:30 – 9 p.m. UK time. The winner will receive 15,000 pounds sterling.

The finals panel will include Dame Janet Baker, who is the competition’s honorary president.
