
Santa Fe Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Don Giovanni’
By Francisco SalazarThe Santa Fe Opera has announced a cast change for Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.”
The company said that soprano and Apprentice singer Rachel Fitzgerald will make her Santa Fe Opera debut in the role of Donna Anna in “Don Giovanni” with performances on June 29, July 5, and July 10. Santa Fe added, “The originally scheduled soprano Teresa Perrotta has withdrawn for personal reasons. The casting for the role in the remaining performances will be announced at a later date.”
Fitzgerald currently studies with Heidi Grant Murphy and will sing in the choruses of “La Traviata,” “Elixir of Love,” and “The Righteous” at the Sana Fe Opera. She has performed with IU Philharmonic Orchestra and Oratorio Chorus, Mid-Ohio Opera, Cincinnati Opera, and Opera Columbus.
The soprano will join a cast that includes Ryan Speedo Green, Rachael Wilson, David Portillo, Nicholas Newton, Liv Redpath, William Guanbo, and Soloman Howard. Harry Bicket conducts the production by Stephen Barlow.
