Renée Fleming, Angel Blue Headline Kennedy Centers Digital Holiday Programming
By Logan MartellThe Kennedy Center has announced upcoming digital programming for the holiday season, with a focus on highlighting traditions from across the country.
Available online through Jauary 1, 20201, “Arts Across America: Winter Traditions” will present performances by artists such as Renée Fleming; Broadway’s Austin Colby Caroline Bowman, and Nicholas Ward; D.C. favorites DuPont Brass, Aaron Myers, and Chuck Redd; and more.
Joined by pianist Dave Sanders, Fleming invites audiences into her home for a concert titled “Home for the Holidays with Renee Fleming.” The concert is available for streaming as of December 21, 2020.
Renowned soprano Angel Blue is also featured in a digital concert with Washington National Opera’s Cafritz Young Artists and Orchestra for “Home & Hearth: A WNO Holiday Concert.” The concert is exclusively available through the Kennedy Center’s Digital Stage+ platform, a free service provided to donors, members, and subscribers of the center.
On December 20, “NSO@Home Live” was released onto the Kennedy Center’s YouTube page, featuring carols and seasonal music from National Symphony Orchestra members William Gerlach, Aaron Goldman, Adriana Horne, and Marissa Regni on the trumpet, flute, harp, and violin, respectively.
On December 26, the center will launch “Honors Memories,” a week-long video series of Kennedy Center Honors recipients featuring figures such as Sting, Oprah Winfrey, Carole King, Carmen DeLavallade, Yo-Yo Ma, and Julie Andrews. Members of Digital Stage+ will also receive access to “Honors Legends,” which features in-depth interviews with renowned artists like Fred Astaire, Leontyne Price, and Leonard Bernstein.
