Opera star Plácido Domingo has announced that he will return to the stage this August with a performance at the Arena di Verona.

This will be the first concert for Domingo since he was diagnosed with COVID-19. He was subsequently hospitalized but has made a full recovery.

“The idea of returning to my beloved Arena fills me with joy,” Domingo said in an interview with Il Corriere della Serra. “For me, who has had the fortune of living 50 years of magical nights there, to return in this historic moment will be profoundly emotional and truly different from the rest. Because the happiness of making music together will unite us in deep respect for those who have battled, suffered, and for those that cannot be there.”

Domingo is scheduled to also perform in the Teatro alla Scala’s production of “La Traviata” in November as well as a series of concerts in Belarus, Germany, and Switzerland throughout 2020-21.
