Pensacola Opera to Offer Live and Digital Events through Autumn

By Logan Martell

Pensacola Opera has announced a series of outdoor, live music performances, as well as online digital programming, starting September 19, 2020.

The company will perform in parks throughout the region as part of its “Al Fresco” series, which comes in partnership with the Pensacola Parks * Recreation Department. Each Saturday, the organization will perform at a new park with the audience invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets. The series will run from September 19 – October 24, 2020.

The company’s digital platform, “The Mezzanine,” will feature full-length, live concerts; behind-the-scenes discussions with artists, directors, and staff; as well as virtual meet-and-greet events with Pensacola Opera’s Artists in Residency. Concerts will stream every two weeks on Sunday, from September 20 – November 15.

October 8 will feature a masterclass from tenor and voice teacher Jason Ferrante as he works with the 38th Season Artists in Residence. Guests are invited to see what goes into an artist’s training and ask questions during the session.

“Our mission at Pensacola Opera has always been to give our audiences thrilling, world-class opera,” writes Executive Director Chandra McKern in an official press statement. “We feel strongly about bringing the joy of opera to our community during this difficult time where we can come together while remaining safely apart and enjoy the beauty and inspiration opera provides. We plan to be here for you with the performances you love, long after the crisis is behind us. With the support of our generous donors and patrons, we are excited to share this season with everyone.”
