Orchestre Classique de Montreal and Ensemble Caprice to Co-Present ‘Forever Händel Concert’

By Logan Martell

On April 28, 2022, Orchestre Classique de Montreal and Ensemble Caprice will co-present a concert titled “Forever Händel.”

Conducted by Boris Brott and Matthias Maute, the two ensembles will perform Händel’s “Water Music,.” Guest soprano Karina Gauvin will perform some of the composer’s arias, interspersed with two works from Montreal composers: Alexander Brott’s “Arabesque,” featuring principal cellist Chloe Dominguez; and a commission from Dutch-Canadian composer Jaap Nico Hamburger titled “Concerto Antico ‘aÌ travers un miroir fumeì’.”

The concert, which comes as part of OCM’s 82nd season titled “Women of Distinction,” will pay tribute to the Honorable Monique Begin, one of the first women to be elected to the Federal Parliament of Quebec, as well as a member of Pierre Trudeau’s cabinet. Each concert honors a woman outside of the music industry who has made a significant impact on the community.

Tickets are available for purchase starting at $25 at OCM’s website.
